Danville – Joseph Frank Stempine, 102, of Danville and formerly of Georgetown, IL, passed away at 11:49 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Goldwater Care of Danville. He was born January 30, 1922 in Georgetown to Frank and Eleonora (Tokarz) Stempine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four siblings, Stanley, Leo, and John Stempine, and Mary Freske.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a longtime Georgetown resident and proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Following his service, he went to work for Western Electric and was able to enjoy many years in retirement. Even after retiring, Joe always stayed active and was able to tend to his own house and lawn well into his nineties. Joe was also an avid fisherman and loved the fishing trips he would take with his brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph F. Stempine will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. Father Timothy Sauppé will officiate. Burial and graveside military honors will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements.
