Joseph Edward Lutchka, 75, of Westville IL, was welcomed home at 2:31 p.m. Monday April 21, 2014 at Presence USMC, Danville IL. Joe was born July 1, 1938 in Danville to Anthony (Whitey) & Helen (Strako) Lutchka. He was united in marriage on June 22, 1963 at St. Marys Church in Westville to Mary Lorene Reddy, who survives. They spent 50 wonderful years together. Joseph will be greatly missed by his four children: Raymond Lee (Nancy) of Williams, IN, Mary Teresa (Earl) Hood, John Joseph Lutchka and Cathy Jo Shafer all of Westville. Joseph enjoyed and dearly loved all his grandchildren who will miss him so much. Mindy Sue Lutchka of Bedford IN, Marcy (Toby) Tincher, Sven and Arius Lutchka all of Williams, IN, John Joseph Lutchka of Copperas Cove, TX, Jeremy Ray (Jenna) Lutchka, Shelbey, Shannon and Jake Lutchka all of Westville, Luke Robert Shafer of Indianapolis IN and Taylor Marie(Brandon)Birchfield of Germany. Great grandchildren: Gavin Charles, Aaliyah Grace, Joseph Tincher all of Williams, IN, Lyndsay Lutchka of Knoxville TN, Gage Hunter of Westville and was awaiting the birth of Kaden John Birchfield. Joseph is also survived by his brother, Anthony (Linda) Lutchka of Westville, Debra (Bruce) Anderson of Williamsport, IN, sisters in-law: Patricia Reddy of Coeur D Alene, ID, Marian Lutchka and Marge (Earl) Drake all of Westville. Brother in-law, Fred (Diane) Reddy of Catlin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws John and Mary McCumber, Wilbur and Helen Reddy. Brothers: Philip and Duane Luthka and brother in-law James Reddy. Faith, Family, Friends and community meant everything to Joe. He enjoyed the outdoors growing up and spent his life hunting and fishing. He was a loyal Cub and Bears fan. Football was in his blood and he was one of the biggest Westville Tiger fans to attend the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. In 2007 he was the proudest grandfather to have 2 grandsons playing on the Class 2A 2nd State football team and a granddaughter to cheer at Memorial Stadium. Joseph attended St. Marys School, Westville High School and retired from Lauhoff Grain Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Danville, American Legion post 51 and St. Marys Parish both in Westville. Everyone who knew Joe dearly loved him, will miss his quiet sense of humor, and subtle way of joking. A huge thank you and many blessings go out to Dr. Sodhis office and Dialysis clinic, Presence USMC, Carle Hospital and the wonderful caregivers from Garden View Manor. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 3:00pm, Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Westville, with Father Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, with a Rosary Service to be at 4:00pm. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Josephs name to St. Marys Church.
