Joseph E. Racz, 82, of Danville passed away at 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.
Joseph was born on December 9, 1936, in Zelienople, PA, the son of John and Catherine (Namath) Racz. He married Charlotte (Winters) Racz on January 20, 1966. She survives.
Surviving children: Diane Link (Wayne Campbell), Karen Lomax, MaryAnn (Rick) Kindred and Kimberly (Chris) Andracki. Grandchildren: Robert (Joey) Winters, Christopher Racz, Caleb Kindred, Matthew Racz, Briana Kindred, Edmund Andracki, Ariel Lomax, Douglas Andracki, Joseph Lomax and one great grandchild, Jaden Winters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Joseph was in the Air Force from 1956-1964. He was a Danville firefighter from 1966-1988 before retiring. He drove a tractor trailer for 30 years, and also worked as an assembler at Walmart for 13 years.
He enjoyed camping, model trains, motorcycles, trucks and spending time with his family, friends and his two dogs. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
A Celebration of Josephs life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, 3940 N. Vermilion St, Danville, Il 61834 with Father ORiley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the funeral home.
