Joseph R. Boggess, 75, of Georgetown passed away at 10:32 a.m. Saturday October 21, 2006 at his daughters home. He was born on December 10, 1930 in Indianola, IL the son of Roy and Gladys M. Kunkle Boggess. He married Vivian Carter on February 2, 1952 in Georgetown, IL. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1990. He later married Eleanor L. Blunner on June 5, 1993 in Georgetown, IL. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2003. Survivors include: two sons, Dennis (Chris) Boggess of Defiance, OH and Dale (Tina) Boggess of Inverness, FL; three daughters, Dianna (Richard) Simmonds of Georgetown, Donna (Glen) Harrier of Danville, and Nancy (Dana) Pearson of Georgetown; two brothers, Roy (Ruth) Boggess of Danville and Ralph (Eula) Boggess of Georgetown; two sisters, Martha (Jim) Polack of Danville, and Pauline (Jack) Downer of Champaign; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; also his dog Sparky. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, a daughter, and a granddaughter. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean War. He retired from GM in 1988 after 37 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Cayuga American Legion and the V.F.W. He was a U.A.W retiree. Joseph was a past owner of the Hum-Dinger in Georgetown. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn. He also loved playing card, especially euchre, and camping.
