Joseph Bannon

Joseph Bannon, 78, of Danville, passed away at 6:15pm on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at North Logan Health Center surrounded by family and friends after an eleven month battle with cancer. He is resting peacefully in his heavenly home. Joseph was born on March 8, 1937 in Danville IL, the son of Joseph Homer Bannon and Eva (Lockhart) Bannon, both deceased. He was married to June Bannon on February 14th 2015. He is survived by his wife and Children, Kathleen (Kenneth) Klibaner (Roswell, GA) Diana Thomas (Hot Springs, AR); step children: Chris (Doug) Knapp, Danville,IL, Timothy (Reta) Feezor, Bismarck, IL, and Brian (Michelle) Feezor, Bruceville Indiana; Grandchildren: Erika Klibaner, Peter Klibaner, Amanda Bolden, Tiffany Thomas, Robert (Heather) Knapp, David Knapp, Stephanie (Adam) Sexton, Kathy Knapp, April (Brett) Kuras, Ashley (Devon) Meadows, Daniel Feezor, Kelsey Feezor, Brianne Feezor, Ian Feezor, and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: Wife Mary Bannon of over 40 years; Brothers Frank and Herman Bannon; Sisters Amy Miller, Anna Bernard, Dorothy Stellwag, Evelyn Lyons and Erma Callahan. Joseph worked at Lauhoff for 47 years, retiring on June 1, 2001, and loved gardening as well as building. He could be found doing extensive work on a building project with near perfect measurements as well as taking time for garden projects or catching a great western on TV. When he was not working on projects he could be found at the Lauhoff Bunge Breakfast socializing and storytelling with others. Family time was special to Joe, he spent many hours watching wrestling with his grandson Danny. He was a mall walker after he retired often walking more than 3 miles a day. Service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 7:00pm on Friday November 20th with Douglas Knapp officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm prior to service at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Memorials may be made in Joseph's name to Women's Care Center at 200 W Williams St, Danville, IL 61832.
