Jose "Joe" A. Rodriguez

Danville – Jose A. “Joe” Rodriguez, 81, of Danville, passed away at 9:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. He was born on February 14, 1945, to Antonio F. and Maria R. (Preciado) Rodriguez. He married Katherine A. Johnson with whom he had three children.

He is survived by his children, Troy (Stacey) Rodriguez of Georgetown, Hula “Holly” (Kenny) Hooks of Danville, and Marcia (Jose) Sanchez of Danville; five grandchildren, Alexandra K. Rodriguez-Hooks, Jose A. (Cailee) Sanchez, Troy A. (Katlynd) Rodriguez, Charles W. Rodriguez, and Fabian Sanchez; four great grandchildren, Chevy M. Rodriguez, Ivan R. Sanchez, Emilia M. Sanchez, and Steven T. Rodriguez; two siblings, Oscar P. (Jan) Rodriguez and Anita P. (Wenseslao) Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Rodriguez, a brother, Angel P. Rodriguez, and a grandson, Tyler L. Rodriguez.

Joe was employed at General Motors in Danville, serving 25 years until his retirement. He was also dedicated to learning and gaining knowledge through adult education courses he attended at DACC. This was a passion he maintained from 1995 until 2026. When not at work or school, Joe was a lover of music and enjoyed watching professional wrestling. In his younger years he liked to stay active with swimming and could often be found working on a project in the garage.

A service to celebrate the life of Jose A. “Joe” Rodriguez will be held at 1 PM on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM prior to the service on Monday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials in his name may be made to the American Stroke Association.
