Jonathan Grae Huff

Jonathan Grae Huff was born in Danville, IL on the 21st of June 1995 and found his peace in Fayetteville, NC on the 11th of March 2025 at the young age of 29.

Jon leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Sarah Huff (née Hill), his daughter, Amelia Lee and his son, Zane Grae, his parents, Richard (Carrie) Huff, Synthia Mayer-Huff, and Wendy Brown Raymond, his siblings David Austin (Abigail) Huff, Mikaela Danielle Huff, Bobby (Autumn) Pickerson, Dylan Washkowiak, Zoe Waskowiak, and Shelby Washkowiak, his paternal grandfather, Raymond Austin Huff and maternal grandparents, Charles Ernest and Rebecca Brown. Jon also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jon is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Cheri Ann Huff.

Jonathan Grae Huff was a rarity the people in this world needed. His ability to capture people’s attention and hearts is unmatched and will remain the most valuable characteristic of his memory.

Jon was an amazing friend, and one that people will search their whole lives for.

His laughter and giggles were magnetic and filled the deepest voids in people’s soul. He was the friend people looked to when they needed comfort, a shoulder to lean on, or a sounding board.

Jon always placed the people he loved first and would go to the ends of the earth for them. He was the living example of a “ride or die” and will forever be the standard of what it means to be loyal. Jon was the friend you could call in the middle of the night to drive states away and without another word he would be on his way. He loved his friends and he never allowed them to feel isolated, alone, or invalidated.

Jon lived a full and wild life; just the way he enjoyed it. He joined the Army in 2014 and made his mark in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Fort Drum, NY, Fort Belvoir, VA , Israel, Kuwait, and finally Fort Bragg, NC. He was loyal to the soil and loved being not only an American Soldier but a Non-commissioned Officer, one would call him the Poster Child for the United States Army.

Empathy, compassion, loyalty, conviction came with ease to this natural born leader, and he employed his qualities to the fullest. There was nothing this man wouldn’t do for his Soldiers and comrades, and he ensured he brought the comedy and lightheartedness to any organization he was a part of. He was trusted by all those around him and for good reason, malice was not in his bones.

He loved to mentor, coach but most of all train. He was amazing at anything he touched but he loved to train and teach those around him more than anything. Passion seeped from his very being to see others succeed. I could not conclude mention of his service without adding his pride in never being a “yes man” but always being there for his people.

Of all of Jon’s accomplishments, his most proud was to be the father of Amelia and Zane Huff. The day they were each born brought him so much pride and excitement. He loved to show them new experiences, take them fishing, buy them Gatorade and Fast Breaks from the gas station, wrestle with them in the living room, and show them how to play video games.

He enjoyed being a husband and was always very proud of his marriage. He loved his wife Sarah and built a beautiful and resounding family with her.

Thank you for being a part of his legacy and allowing him to forever being a part of yours.

His electrifying personality and resounding energy will forever leave a void in this physical world. He was an amazing friend, cousin, brother, son, father, and husband.

Please keep his memory alive with laughter and silly stories as he was a wild child at heart and his legacy must continue.
