Johnny'John' L. Rigdon

Johnny John' L. Rigdon, 61, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 6:41am, Monday, August 15, 2011, at his home. He was born on October 1, 1949, in Danville, IL, the son of Roy E. Rigdon and Helen {Gardener} Coleman. He was first married to Patricia Mildazis. He later married Julie Glispie on June 5, 1999, in Ridge Farm. She survives. Other survivors include: his daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Bowers of Paris; his son, Joshua Josh' (Stacey) Rigdon of Paris; his step-son, Cory Glispie of Temple, GA; his grandchildren, Hannah Bowers, Jared Bowers, Lauren Bowers, Madyson Rigdon, & Jackson Rigdon; his brother, Lyle (Lonny) Rigdon of Pawnee, IL; his sister, Carol Pearson of Ridge Farm; his sister-in-law, Twila Rigdon of Sullivan, IN; and his close friend, Norman Mills of Vermilion Grove. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his step-father, Fred Coleman; his brother, Keith Rigdon; and nephew, Kory Rigdon. John worked at the Illinois Department of Corrections in Danville for 19 years where he was known as Big John'. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish & hunt. He also enjoyed playing softball, going mushroom hunting, and spending time with his good friend, Norm. John was also an avid Illini fan as well as, Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends at The Ridge in Ridge Farm. A celebration of John's life will be held at 12:00p (noon), Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, in Georgetown, with Shane Mullins officiating. The family would like to invite everyone to wear casual clothing in memory of John. Visitation will be held 10am-Noon prior to the service on Thursday. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm. Memorial donations may be given in John's name to Ridge Farm Recreational Department.
