Johnnie F. Snider

Johnnie Snider, 82, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at his home in Danville. He was born on December 10, 1938 the son of Alva Snider and Eva (Stettler) Snider in Fountain County, IN. They precede him in death.

Also preceding Johnnie in death is his significant other for many years, Betty Melvin; siblings, Doris (John) Perkins, Rita (Earl) Foltz, Joni (Merle) Corbett, and Howard (Virginia) Snider.

Johnnie is survived by his two children, Richard Snider of Hillsboro, IN and Angela (Kyle Jarvis) Davis of Sanford, FL; grandchildren, Matthew Snider of Hillsboro, IN, Joseph (Marcie) Snider of Sheridan, IN, Becky (Brent) Lewis of Perrysville, IN, and Jodi (George) Coffey of Palm Bay, FL; great grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, Isaac, Zach, Gabe, Brenden, Ben, Briley, and Carolyn; siblings, Ana Louise Bowman of Attica, IN and Freddie (Nancy) Snider of Independence, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

John did many things throughout his lifetime. His many accomplishments included retiring from Tee Pak, being a skilled woodworking craftsman, and excelling in shooting sports. He was a longtime member of the Danville, IL chapter of the Moose Lodge. It was at the lodge that he met the love of his life, Betty Melvin. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. John also enjoyed spending time fishing, rooting for Illini football, and watching westerns. His sense of humor will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Kurt Flora. Per Johnnies wishes he will be cremated after the service. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Johnnies name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. We ask guests planning to attend the visitation and service to please wear a mask.
