John Charles Wonderlin

John Charles Wonderlin, 84, of Danville, IL passed away at his home with his family by his side on August 9, 2026 at 9:54 PM.

John was born on April 28, 1942 the son of Harold and June (Culp) Wonderlin in Danville, IL. He married Christine Youhas on October 6, 1983 in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Wonderlin of Danville, IL his children, Lance (Michelle) Wonderlin of Westfield, IN, Wesley (Julie) Wonderlin of Terre Haute, IN and Lauren (Andrew) Farr of Danville, IL; his grandchildren, Rachel Wonderlin, Dr. Ryan Wonderlin, Isaac Wonderlin, Paige (Jacob) Morris, Darin Farr, Dylan Farr, Evelyn Farr, Allison Farr and Kathryn Farr; as well as one great granddaughter, Mabel Morris.

John is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Patricia Cohen and Thomas Wonderlin.

John was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and retired from Bohn Aluminum/Heatcraft in 1996, where he spent the majority of his career. Throughout his life, John was dedicated to serving his community and was proud of his many accomplishments. He was a graduate of Leadership Danville Class 3 and served for several years on the Board of Directors of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce, including serving as Chairman of the Board from 1993 to 1994. He enjoyed spending his free time playing golf, taking daily walks at Kickapoo State Park, cheering on the St Louis Cardinals, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Father John Cyr will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the funeral home in Danville, IL

Memorial may be made in John’s memory to St Paul’s Catholic Church or Kickapoo State Park.
