John Willis Sprouls

GEORGETOWN- John Willis Sprouls, 85, of Georgetown, passed away at 3:10am on Monday, October 31st, 2005, at his residence. He was born on March 3rd, 1920, in Georgetown, the son of Grover and Carrie (Jenkins) Sprouls. On November 19th, 1938, John married Violet E. Erven in Covington, IN. She preceded him in death in September of 1994. Those John leaves behind include: his son; Mac (Kay) Sprouls of Georgetown; his brother, Warren (Mary) Sprouls of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Aneita Saylor of Georgetown, Guy Sprouls of Mahomet, and Kenneth Sprouls of Normal, IL; his two great-grandchildren, Anna and Kayla Saylor. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son-Kenneth Walls, one brother-Raymond Sprouls, and his sister-Virgie Hathaway. John proudly served his country as a United States Navy Seabee during WWII, being Honorable discharged on December 25th, 1945. He was a member of the Georgetown Friends Church. He worked as a carpenter most of his life and belonged to the Carpenters Local #269, as well as the Masonic Lodge #154, and the American Legion Dornblazer Post #203. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and being with his family. A celebration of John W. Sprouls life is scheduled for 11:00am, Thursday, November 3rd, 2005c at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown. Pastor Lloyd King will officiate. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery in Georgetown. Visitation is 4-8pm on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005, at the funeral home with Masonic Rites being held at 7:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Johns name to the Georgetown Library and/or Carle Hospice.
