Greensburg, Ind. -- John W. Moore, 72, of Greensburg, passed away at 4:30 p.m. EST, Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Indiana. He was born March 22, 1937 in Medora, Indiana, the son of the late Fred N. and Mary L. Shepard Moore. He married Joan Bentley on September 14, 1958 in Letts, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Barbara A. Adams of Muncie, Indiana and Becky(Jim)DeArmond of Westport, Indiana; a son, Ronald(Diana)Moore of Westport, Indiana; a sister, Karen(Bill)Finley; a brother, Fred(Okyi)Moore and his father-in-law, Elvin Bently all of Greensburg, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Adrian Adams (November 20, 2009) and his mother-in-law, Bernice Bentley. John was raised in the Southern Fountain/Northern Parke Counties area. He had been a Decatur County resident since 1952. He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1955. John was a lifelong farmer and was a heavy equipment operator for the State Highway for 25 years. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 8 years. John was a member of the First Christian Church in Greensburg. He enjoyed going to car shows with his red 1931 Ford Roadster and camping. Services were held Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in Westport, Indiana at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home; Burial: Mt. Aerie Cemetery at Letts, Indiana. Memorial contribution may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program.
