WESTVILLE- John Vilk, 82, of Westville passed away at 7:20pm on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton. Mr. Vilk was born in Danville, on June 24, 1924, the son of Stanley and Alice (Racfaz) Vilk. Both his parents precede him in death. John is survived by: his brother, Barney Vilk of Westville; his four nieces, Jeri (Bob) Kuyrkendall of Georgetown, Linda Lindsey of Paris, IL, Dolores (Eric) Holycross of Westville, and Julie (Jim) Bianchetta of Georgetown; and his two nephews, B.J. (Lindsey) Vilk of Florida, and J.K. (Crystal) Vilk of Paris, IL. John attended Westville High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII. John worked at Jacobs Manufacture in Danville, and the DuPont Plant in Newport, IN, retiring from Teepak Factory in Danville after 25 years of service. John was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Illini fan. He played with the Independent Baseball League, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. A Catholic Mass service for Mr. John Vilk is scheduled for 11:00am on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. Final resting place will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9am until time of service at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel located at 414 S. State St. in Westville.
