John Russell 'Russ' Peterson

John Russell "Russ" Peterson, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2004 at Bon Secors-St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte. He was born December 5, 1913 in Danville, Illinois the son of John and Della (Johnson) Peterson. He married Mary L. Good on February 17, 1940 in Williamsport, Indiana. He is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years- Mary L. Peterson of Port Charlotte; 1 Daughter- Nancy (Robert) Linn of St. Charles, MO; 2 Grandchildren- Roben (Kyle) Durand and Courtney (John) Dudley and 1 Great-Grandson - Mauri Durand. His parents preceded him in death. Russ was a lifelong resident of Danville before moving to Port Charlotte 30 years ago. He was a retired hoisting engineer for the Bell & Zoller Coal Company of Newman, IL. Member of Calvary Baptist Church in Danville; Further Light Lodge No. 1130 AF&AM of Danville; and Elks Lodge No. 2153 of Port Charlotte, Florida. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish.
