John (John Boy) Rollins

John "John Boy" Alan Rollins, 71, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, in Danville, Illinois.

John was born on May 23, 1955, in Streator, Illinois, to Renard and Verna Rollins. As the youngest of thirteen children and a twin, John learned early the value of family, friendship, and living life on his own terms. Known affectionately as "John Boy" to those who loved him, he had a free spirit and an easygoing nature that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

John had a deep love for music, especially classic rock and roll. An old hippie at heart, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures, mary jane, good company, and sharing stories with family and friends. His personality, sense of humor, and loyalty to those he cared about will be remembered by all who knew him.

John is survived by his loving daughters, Peggy Edwards and Brandi (Robert) Shaffer; his cherished grandchildren, Andrew (Tessa Pavolka) Edwards, Theo Edwards, Caesar Edwards, Tyler (Bre) Shaffer, Alex (Kandice) Sloan, and Brody (Mercede) Shaffer; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends and family who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Renard and Verna Rollins, and his lifelong friend, Mark Lete.

John's memory will live on through the love he shared, the music he enjoyed, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Georgetown. Burial will take place at Rutland Cemetery.
