John Raymond Reynolds, 91, of Danville, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. John was born on August 20, 1914 in Catlin Township, Illinois, the son of Chester Arthur and Nettie Mae (Bentley) Reynolds. He married Garnet Scott on September 16, 1938 in Covington, Kentucky. She survives. He is also survived by one son- John Jack (Sharon) Reynolds of Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren- John Scott (Kathy) Reynolds of Kennesaw, Georgia, Pamela (Darin) Winarski of Acworth. Georgia, Steven (Yumi) Reynolds of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Carrie Reynolds of Doraville, Georgia; four great-grandchildren- Tiffani Reynolds, Tyler Reynolds, Christopher Winarski, and Grace Winarski; one sister-in-law- Freda Reynolds of Catlin,, Illinois; and three nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother- Cleo Reynolds, one sister- Alta Peters, and one brother-in-law- George Scott Peters. John attended Danville High School. After school he worked at Musbeck Shoe Factory for 17 years. After the shoe factory John worked at General Motors for 15 years as a process engineer and then 15 years at the General Motors foundry plant until retiring on March 1, 1977. John was a member of UAW Local 579. He enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, photography, model airplanes, rock collecting, listening to the c.b. radio, and roller skating. John was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A celebration of the life of John Raymond Reynolds will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. Robert Hodshire officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent in Johns name to the American Cancer Society.
