John Patrick “Pat” Vestal, 44, of Champaign passed away on October 30, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on January 22, 1980 in Danville to parents John and Mary (Denny) Vestal. He attended Georgetown High School and worked at the pallet company outside of town for many years. He also spent some years driving a semi-truck, which was a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved being on the open road and the opportunity to explore new places. He most recently was doing carpentry work, a job that he was particularly well at.
Pat grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, a love that blossomed into a lifelong hobby. Whether he was exploring the local woods, trapping animals, or casting a line in the river, Pat thrived in the natural world where he felt most at home. His passion for fishing was matched only by his fondness for sharing a cold beer with his friends and family. He had a deep love for working on older cars and could be found continuously browsing the car magazines for new inspiration. He particularly loved riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes around the area. Pat always looked forward to the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his daughter and granddaughter. He loved to cook, and his family will miss sharing his delicious meals together.
Pat is survived by his daughter, Angellee (Tyler Adkins) Vestal of Chrisman and her mother, Amanda Andrews of Georgetown; his dad John “Larry” (Vernie) Vestal of Georgetown; granddaughter, Haven Adkins; and sisters Raeanne Smith of Urbana, Jennifer Vestal of Georgetown, and Missy Rollins of Georgetown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, of which he was particularly close with Kristin, Kaitlin, Kassidy, Khaylee, & Kody Baird, Spencer & Kailey Smith, and Abran, Arvizu, & Malaki Brandon.
Pat was preceded in death by his mother, his stepfather Richard Nixon, and his brother Kenny Price.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4-6 pm at Sunset Funeral Home’s Houghton- Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown.
