John Milewski

TILTON - John Milewski, Jr., 61, went to be with the Lord at 4:02am, Monday, March 06, 2006, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on May 12, 1944, in Danville, IL, the son of John Milewski, Sr. and Iris G. (Shepherd-Milewski) Jones. He married Vicky J. Thomas in Danville on May 24, 1980. She resides in Tilton. Other survivors include: two sons, John Scott Milewski of Indianapolis, IN, and Daniel DJ Meeker, Jr. of Queen Creek, AZ; one daughter, Jodi R. (James McGuire) Meeker of Danville; three brothers, William (Marge) Milewski of Alaska, Richard Milewski of Florida, and Michael (Chris) Milewski of Florida; four sisters, LaVada Hannah of Danville, Sue (Bill) Roberts of Georgia, Cathy (Bud) Cravens of Missouri, and Felicia Milewski of Connecticut; one uncle, James (Nellie) Shepherd of Alabama; two aunts, Lavern Simpson of Danville and Rose Criswell of Texas; three grandchildren, John Scott Milewski II of Florida, Paige Milewski of Westville, and Kylie Greer of Cayuga, IN; special in-laws, Jack & Dorothy Thomas, Sr., Walter & Shirley Meeker, and Jack & Nancy Thomas, Jr. and their families; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-Buddy Gene. John was a lifelong photographer. He started his photography career while working for Sudlow Photography, but then he joined the Navy, before starting his own business, Photography By John in Tilton. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Easter Illinois Shrine Club and a Shriner Clowns as Tails, Scottish Rites, GAO Grotto, 32nd Mason, Ansar Temple and Tilton Lions Club. He has been a Tilton Village Board member for many years. John also attended Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton. He enjoyed garage sales and flea markets, along with collecting gumball machines and toy truck coin banks. He especially enjoyed his family and many friends. One thing about Dad was he never knew a stranger and always had a smile on his face. Special thanks to Carle Hospice.
