John L. Maynard

John L. Maynard, 58, passed away on July 31, 2025 at his home in Cayuga, with his wife at his side. He was born on September 18, 1966 in Danville to the late JV and Bernice Maynard. He attended Seeger High School.

John enjoyed NASCAR, so much so that he even owned his own racecar at one point throughout his lifetime. He looked forward to the beautiful days that allowed him to go fishing or camping. He married Marla Johnson on March 28, 2003, and they were able to enjoy 24 years together before his passing. She survives. Also surviving are his children Larry Maynard and Tasha Maynard, 5 step-children, many grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters Tina, Linda, Sheila, and Brenda and his loyal cat Sassy- all who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters Eula and Cheryl and his brothers Wilbur and Melvin.

Per John’s wishes, no services will be held, and cremation will take place. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N.
