John Mattone

WESTVILLE - John Mattone, 93, of Westville passed away at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday January 15, 2008 at North Logan Health Care Center. He was born on August 25, 1914 in Westville, IL the son of Mike and Madeline Ferpatto Mattone. Survivors include: one sister, Mary Gundrum of Westville; sister-in-law, Lucille Mattone of Lexington, KY; nieces and nephews, Launie (Phil) Morgan of Danville, Diana Carey of Danville, Marcia Gundrum of Chicago, IL, Frank Jr., Luann, Marybeth, and Kathy; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank, and brother-in-law, Dr. Mark Gundrum D.D.S. John attended St. Pauls Catholic Church. John loved traveling, especially to Italy where his descendants are from. He traveled everywhere including crossing the equator twice. John especially loved being with his many nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held at noon on Saturday January 19, 2008 at St. Pauls Church. Father Greg Nelson will be officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-noon on Saturday before the service. Sunset-Urbas funeral home in Westville is in charge of arrangements.
