John L. Johnson

John Lauren Johnson, 87, of Westville, formerly of Urbana, passed away at 10:30am March 5, 2005 at North Logan Health Care. He was born June 9, 1917 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Roy and Gertrude (Eve) Johnson. He married Martha Meeker May 18, 1941, and then later married, Marjorie Ellis in 1968. They shared together 37 years of marriage. He is survived by one son Mark L. (Cheryl) Johnson, one daughter, Mary Helen (Butch) Jones, both of Westville, two grandsons, Jason and Justin Johnson, one granddaughter, Stacey Judd, and four great-grandchildren. His parents, two spouses, and three sisters preceded him in death. John was a veteran of WWII, serving with the United States Navy. He was a window glazer, retiring from the University of Illinois. He loved his work and any tasks he under took. John was a vibrant human being. His hobby was fishing. He loved his winters in Florida, staying there the last 33 years.
