John James DeLaurier Jr, 76, of Danville IL, passed away at 1:50 pm on Friday January 4, 2013 at North Logan Healthcare. John was born on March 6, 1936 to John James Sr. and Darlene (Riplinger) DeLaurier in Detroit Michigan. He married Rosella Smith on June 22, 1957, in Fruitport MI, she survives. Other survivors include his son John J. (Brenda) DeLaurier of Danville, daughter Deborah K. Smith of Midland MI, four grandchildren Melissa Ann, Robert Wayne, Tanner James and Christopher Dalton, three great-grandchildren Celena Rose, Alexis Marie, and Cole Michael, and one brother Robert (Phyllis) DeLaurier. John was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. John spent the early part of his life in Michigan where he acted head of the Civil Defense and a Boy Scout Troop leader. He later moved to Illinois and attended the Midwest Bible College. An active member of every church he joined John taught Sunday school for many years. An outdoorsman John loved to travel almost as much as spending time with his family, both those related and from the church. A celebration of John's life will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 11:00am at the South Side Church of the Nazarene in Tilton IL with Pastor Kent Pitcher officiating and burial at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday January 8, 2013 at the South Side Church with a short hour long visitation prior to the service on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
