John 'Jack' Milton Allen Sr.

John "Jack" Milton Allen Sr., 92, passed away on February 27th 2019 at his daughters home in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by family.

Jack was born in Danville, Illinois on August 10, 1926 to Milton Edward and Gladys (Akers) Allen. He entered the armed forces at the age of 17. He served in the Navy on the U.S.S Scania from 1944-1946. He married Leatrice Hadley on November 23, 1947 in St. Anne, IL. Known as "Ace" he worked and retired from the Railroad after 40 years.

Jack was a Ham radio operator and a member of the Vermillion County R/C club.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He traveled to Japan and Hawaii during his service and he and his wife often took trips around the country. He and Lea spent 65 years of marriage together and he loved her very much. He enjoyed watching Cub games, flying his model airplanes, collecting clocks, and eating out; especially at the Village Garden. Jack was a character and could make anyone laugh with his jokes and sense of humor.

Allen of Indianapolis, IN, and Tammy (Curtis) Price of Owensville, IN; son, Robert (Crystal) Allen of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Kimberly (David) Hoskins of West Lebanon, IN, David Sellers of Westville, IL, Terri Sellers of Westville, IL, Lori (Mark) Weir of Wyoming, MI, Summer Allen of Springfield, IL, Brittany (Andy) Cordier of Springfield, IL, Whitney and Eric Burton of New Orleans, LA, Taylor (James) Trattner of Indianapolis, IN, Kayla Price of Los Angeles, CA, Trenton (Ashlyn) Price of Richland City, IN; great-grandchildren Lacee Sellers of Tilton, IL and Casey Sellers of Fairmount, IL, Bryson Hoffman of Westville, IL, Dallas, Daelyn, and Dhakiya Weir of Wyoming, MI, Hayden and Breahna Hoskins of West Lebanon, IN, Carter Cordier of Springfield, IL, Isaiah Mayberry of Indianapolis, IN, Raelin Trattner of Indianapolis, IN, Nixon Reynoso of Los Angeles, CA, Oaklyn Price of Richland City, IN; and his beloved dog Missy

He was preceded in death by his wife Leatrice Allen, son John Jr. 'Butch', son-in-law David Sellers, and sister Peggy Connor.

A service to celebrate the life of John "Jack" Milton Allen will be held at 10am on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, March 5th also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
