John "Jack" J. Ward Jr., 77, of Danville, passed away at 10:47 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Jack was born on July 23, 1935 in Louisville, KY, the son of John and Margarete (Tivenan) Ward Sr. He married Mary Frances McGough on October 29, 1977 in Phoenix, AZ. She survives. He is survived by two sons- Mark and Timithey, three daughters- Cheryl, Debbie and Theresa, two grandchildren- Timmi and Kele and three great-grandchildren- Jasmine, Bobby and Joey. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack served our country as a United States Marine during Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a Staff Sergeant after 22 years of service. After retirement Jack worked for Resurrection Cemetery for 11 years. He and Fran were loyal members of Holy Family Catholic Church for 30 years. Jack was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus Council #754. He enjoyed working in the yard, crossword puzzles and reading Civil War books. A memorial mass of Christian burial for Jack will take place on October 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Ted Pracz officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM before the service. Burial will follow the services at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Jack's name to Resurrection Cemetery, Holy family Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus Council #754.
