John (Jack) Edward Hathaway, 82, of Danville, passed away at 1:45am, Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Healthcare Center. He was born January 7, 1925, the son of Glen Edward and Edna Love (Morgan) Hathaway. John married Lucille Mae Sanders on December 12, 1961 in Danville. She survives. Other survivors include, six daughters, Sheila (Dudley) Jones of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Sharon (Earl) Lomax of Georgetown, Carla (Alan) Pollman of Georgetown, Linda Ahring of Central Park, Dianna (George) Sager of Danville, And Vickie (Dave)Caudill of Tilton, one sister, Fern (Clyde) Powell of Dothan, Alabama, ten grandchildren, Beth Lawson, Marcus Hackman, Eric Lomax, Courtney Pollman, Kelcey Pollman, Luke Ahring, Lindsey Ahring, Amanda Barney, Jennifer Sager, and Shane Woods, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Penny Sue Starkey, son-in-law, George Ahring, one brother-in-law, Leroy Sanders. Jack was a World War II veteran, serving with the Army from 1943-1946. He was a truck driver, retiring from McDaniel Freight Line. He was past vice president and trustee of Teamsters Union Local 26. During his retirement years he enjoyed driving cars for Wrights Motor Company. Jack was an avid Illini, Chicago Bulls, Cubs, and Bears fan. Besides watching sports, he loved the Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right with Bob Barker game shows on television and going to auctions. Jack was a member of the Masonic Olive Branch Lodge and Iris Chapter of the Eastern Star. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm Monday July 23, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Masonic services will be held at 6:30pm Monday. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Reverend James Blue officiating.
