Danville – John “Jack” W. Brown, 87, of Danville passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana at 11:46 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2025. He was born on June 16, 1937 to Clarence and Mary (Adamson) Brown. He married Erma I. Osgood on June 6, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2020.
He is survived by a son, Todd Brown of New York and his children, and a daughter, Julie (Chas) Reavill of Danville; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Justin) Wilson and Christian Reavill; great-grandchildren, Landon, Bella, and C.J. Reavill; and his beloved dog, Daisy.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, Mary Knutson, Clarence “Brownie” Brown, and Dorothy Cramer.
After High School, Jack served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He later continued his career with Quaker Oats in Danville where he worked as an electrician and a computer programmer. Computers and electronics of all kinds were one of Jack’s passions, regularly competing with his brother on who had the latest technology. He was also talented at fixing and building nearly anything, having even built the first home for his family. Jack was a member of CrossRoads Christian Church and above all else, loved spending time with his family.
A service to celebrate the life of John “Jack” W. Brown will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Tuesday, also at Sunset in Danville.
