Danville - John Hadley, 80, of Oakwood, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served, on December 21, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born August 22, 1933 in Danville, IL the son of E. C. and Lidie Chevalley Hadley. He was married to Mary Alice McBride on March 27, 1956 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by his sons John (Jody) Hadley of Montrose, CO and Timothy (Shelly) Hadley of Owosso, MI; daughter Teri (Clay) Hess of Easton, WI; his brothers Paul (Beth) Hadley of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Samuel (Sieglind) Hadley of Danville; his sister Anne Gautier of France; his Brother-in-law Bob (Renee) McBride; his Sister-in-law Judy Lockwood; his nephew Frank Lockwood; his grandchildren Tim, Philip, Jonathan, and Emma Hadley of Owosso, MI. Trey, Cierra, Noah, and Hannah Hess of Easton, WI. Tina, Mike, Richard, Maggie, and Bill Hadley of Montrose, CO. A brother-in-law Gene Ingles of Edgerton, WI. Also surviving are 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; and very special friends Buzz and Deanna Oltman of Pekin, IL. As well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Paulette Ingles; a daughter-in-law, Heidi; a granddaughter, Lydia; an aunt, Julia Chevalley; a sister-in-law, Anita Coffman; and a brother-in -law Frank Coffman. John was a jack-of-all trades as there was not a machine that he could not improve or fix. He was known in the Pekin area as Mr. Fixit where his slogan was “No job too small”. John was a general contractor for the majority of his life; however in 1991 he went to work for Grace & Truth where he was the head of maintenance until 2012. Johns father started Grace & Truth in 1931 and the company is still spreading the good news to this day. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Mary Alice where they would go on traveling vacations. John and Mary Alice have been to 49 states and traveled internationally. Johns true joy in life were his grandchildren, he loved to spend time with them and teach them about the Lord. Even up to the end John shared the love of Jesus Christ with everyone around him. Above all else, John loved his family, he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. A celebration of Johns life will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Johns name to Grace & Truth.
