John Gerdausky, Jr.

John Joseph Gerdausky, Jr., 84, of Covington, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 8:32 a.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. John was born September 14, 1923, in Danville, Illinois, the son of John Joseph Gerdausky, Sr. and Anna (Waschow) Gerdausky. They both preceded him in death, as well as his sister, Florence Pittman of Danville, IL. On February 2, 1947, he married Jane Foulk in Danville, IL, who resides in Covington, IN. They recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Also surviving are his three daughters, Judy (Tom) Simmons of San Diego, CA, Carol Call of Lexington, KY and Cathy (Don) Hesler of Covington; five grandchildren, Meggin (Todd)Hamilton, Matthew (Missy)Hesler, Marc Hesler, Allison Simmons and Kristy Simmons; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Kendra Hamilton, Evan Hamilton, Kennan Hesler, and Trey Hughes. John was a graduate of Danville High School. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army. After his military service, John worked with the C&EI and L&N Railroads as a machinist. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge (VBOB.) He was also a member of Central Christian Church of Danville, IL. A celebration of Johns life will be held on May 8, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. EST (2:00 p.m. CST) at Central Christian Church in Danville, IL with Don Hesler officiating. Per Johns wishes, he will be cremated. His final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. Sunsets Covington Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the donors choice in memory of John.
