John Daniel Morris

John Daniel Morris, beloved husband to Lynette and daddy to Luci left this earthly life on Sunday at his home from a very unexpected heart attack. John was born in Danville on December 16, 1957, to Joe and Maria Wielgorka Morris. He grew up in Danville attending Danville schools with his 2 sisters, Dana (Charles Sturgeon) and Jenny (Scott Rodman). John married Lynette Loewenstein on February 11, 1984 in Danville. In 2006 they were blessed to receive their daughter, Luci Danielle. Being raised on a farm he developed a strong, hardworking ethic early in life. He worked construction in his younger years. He worked with his Dad delivering sawdust to many stables. After his Dad retired, John continued with sawdust and later began delivering landscape mulch to nurseries and garden centers. Through all of his work he traveled around Illinois and Indiana meeting many people. John always had a story he could share, an inherited trait from his Dad. John always had a smile and loved to joke about and laugh. If he gave you're a nickname, he really liked you! A self-made business man, john and Lynette owned and operated J & L Morris Trucking since 1987. John was the maintenance, driver, laborer, operator, and sales man. He left the paperwork to Lynette. John loved to create and build new things from landscaping to furniture. Lynette would refer to John as a workaholic, best kind of aholic to have. John would have no problem telling someone, "I'm just a country boy, simple and plain." His social graces were unique and at times left one just shaking their head and laughing. John was a big kid at heart and he would provide unique experiences for kids through his work. Just a week before he passed he took Luci and 3 friends for a ride in his semi and lunch at the Beef House. His nieces and nephews have enjoyed rides on a sled being pulled by the lawn mower. Another favorite of the kids were rides up and down in the loader bucket. Of course there was always a mound of mulch to be climbed. The girls have fixed his hair and painted his finger nails which he always wore it until it was gone! Lots of adults have enjoyed rides in the semi. John always mixed his work and pleasure because that was his life! He had a lot of special friends, far too many to mention. He often stopped at the Beef House for lunch or a sweet treat, he loved the special treatment form all of his sweet waitresses that had a very unique nicknames, they even provided diaper changing services when John would take Luci (as a baby) on rides in the semi. Uncle John leaves to cherish his memory Dawn (Cory) Listner and children Meredith, Elise (goddaughter), Cameron, Wyatt, and Brooke. Brittany (Jeremy) Mears and children Cooper and Raegan. David Morris and sons Jack and Maverick. Special friends that endured (enjoyed) working with John, Frank Chantos and Fred Mallory. He was proud of his family but his greatest pride and joy was his daughter Luci. "He was the best Daddy ever!" Lynette and Luci wish to thank dear friends, the Woodard family for helping us through our darkest hours. So many friends and family have provided us with love and prayers we can feel our hearts slowly mending. Our favorite bible verseI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Drew Mentzer officiating.
