John D Stevens

John D. Stevens Sr., 56, of Danville, passed away at 4:56am, Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born on July 12, 1955, in Kansas, MO, the son of Wayne and Marge {Newberry} Gooch Stevens Bryant. He was married to Mary T. Lutchka on June 17, 1978, in Westville; his wife of 20 years. He is survived by: his daughter, Taylor Stevens of Westville; his brothers, Patrick (Marcia) Stevens of Danville & Wayne (Patty) Bryant of Westville; his sisters, June (Jim) Larson of Danville & Rainey (Darryl) Price of Indianapolis, IN; his special friends, Mike Waters & John Osborn, both of Danville; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his biological parents; his sisters, Opal Jones & Betty Pichon; and his brothers, Junior Bryant, Robert Gooch, Paul Campbell, & Charles Bryant. John graduated from Westville High School in 1974. He worked for the Veteran's Administration in Danville for 32 years. He also worked at Sunoco Gas Station in Danville. Lately, he worked at Bryant's Auto Salvage in Danville. John really enjoyed working on cars and going hunting & fishing. He also enjoyed collecting guns & coins. He cherished time spent with his family and especially loved spending time with the light of his life, his daughter, Taylor. A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 21, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be 2-6pm, Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the funeral chapel. He will be laid to rest in Sandusky Cemetery. Donations may be given to John's family to assist with a purchase of a marker.
