John D. Groce

John D. Groce, 59, of Danville, passed away on September 13, 2014 at the VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville. He was born on October 17, 1954 in Spencer, IA, the son of John B. and Beulah R. (Buss) Groce. John will be deeply missed by his sons, Clinton W. Gosser and Trevor L. Groce, daughter, Rebecca S. Groce, father, John Groce, two sisters, Mary (Dennis) Reed, Cindy (Tracy) Fairchild all of Oakwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Groce. John was a member of the United States Navy. He worked for General Motors and retired in 2006. John and Trevor loved building model airplanes and cars together. Other hobbies he enjoyed were gardening, shooting guns, raising various animals, going to church, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping and working out. John was a very giving man and donated to several different charities and foundations. A celebration of Johns life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
