John E. Conder Sr., a loving husband, father, and son of God passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at his home in Mahomet, Illinois. He was born on July 30, 1940, in Big Clifty, Kentucky to John Michael Conder and Virginia Ann (Harris) Conder. He graduated from St. Anthony High School in Effingham, IL in the spring of 1958 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1958-1962, spending a couple years in Germany. He married the love of his life Alberta (Ann) Vilius on June 16, 1962, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
John’s life reflected in his dedication to God, providing for his family, and his love of farming and traveling which included almost 30 years of driving a semi-truck and even more sightseeing throughout the United States.
Other than his wife, John’s greatest blessing was family. Raised with 5 siblings; him and Ann had 3 children John Jr. (Kim) Conder of Paxton, IL, Joe (Debbie) Conder of Las Vegas, NV, and Chris (Jamie) Stafford of Mahomet, IL. They also enjoyed their legacy of 13 grandchildren Jennifer (Zac) Jones, Cody (Courtny) Conder, Christopher Conder, Kyle Guy, Chelsea (Austin) Steffy-Cannon, Monique Stafford, Meghan (Jonathan) Smith, Jessica (Briar) Franzen, Zach (Marisa) Stafford, Mackenzie Conder, Karla Conder, Israel Conder, and Iyana Conder; and 18 great-grandchildren: Raygan, Paxton, Teagan, Hudson, Elijah, Lillienne, Kamdyn, Audrey, Trinity, Alyssa, Otto, Blakely, Maddox, Addi, Nevaeh, Lennox, Paislee, and Lincoln.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him, and his memory and life lessons taught will continue to live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday October 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Mahomet at 501 W. State St. Mahomet IL 61853. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. John will be laid to rest at Saint Boniface Cemetery in Seymour, IL.
