John Clayton Hyche

On November 11, 2017, John Clayton Hyche, of Danville, passed away. He was the oldest of 7 children, born to Catherine {Jones} Hyche and Lester Hyche. He was preceded in death by his son, John Bryan Hyche and one daughter, Cynthia Ann Hyche (George). His wife, Patricia Hyche survives. John was 82 years old. He and his wife would have been married for 65 years in December. They were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church by Monsignor Sersol. Also surviving is one daughter, Mary Beth Hyche. John had four brothers and two sisters who he was proud to say were close; Wayne Hyche (recently deceased), Kenneth Hyche, Gene Hyche, Donnie Hyche, Lynda Hyche, & JoAnn Hyche. He loved his brothers & sisters dearly as well as their wives and husbands. John loved all his family. John served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and is a 2-times Veteran Honorably Discharged. He was very proud of that. After the military, he briefly worked at Danville Produce and then about 5 years at TeePak until he went international with the Union. He worked for Union Food & Commercial Workers Union for 30 years until retiring. He loved helping people and doing what is right and fair in the work place. John also leaves behind a host of nieces & nephews. His brothers' & sisters' children & their children's children. All of whom he was very proud of. One of the happiest days of John's life was attending the Hyche Reunion with his wife & daughter, Cynthia. Also, Dad was not one to talk about his feelings unless his wife or his mother. He loved his wife and cherished his time with her and deeply missed his visits with his mother when he'd go to see her in Alabama. John also leaves behind his special great grandchildren, Justice Faye Clark, Journey May Clark, & Lylah Kay Ann George. He loved them dearly. John leaves behind a special grandson & granddaughter, Jennifer Patricia Burke, Shane Burke, Dwight George, Samantha Ayers, Beth Haurez, John, Dustin, Marcia Jo, & Jessie Hyche, all of whom he loved dearly. He also loved and admired his mother-in-law, Mae Hathaway. In closing, John leaves behind his wife of 64 years, she loved him dearly and will always miss him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Father Timothy Saupp officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with Rosary Service at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest in Sts.
