Daly; and his grandchildren Corey Lynn Newberry, Andrew Cline, and Stacie Cline. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ruth Kelley, Minerva Dunn, James Newberry, Clint Newberry, Maxine Ellis, and Millicent Miller. John was the youngest of seven children. From Meadville where he was born, his family moved to Danville, IL where they survived the Great Depression. As an adult he served in the Armed Forces during WWII. After the war his only child Melissa Annette Newberry was born in Danville. Later his three grandchildren Corey Lynn Newberry, Andrew Joseph Cline, and Stacie Annette Cline were born. He gave and provided selflessly right up until his death. He was a gentle person, and could always be counted on for comfort. Through all his trials he developed a strong sense of humor, and found ways to laugh at life that helped himself and those around him cope. He enjoyed fishing and being in nature, reading political literature, cooking, classical music and photography. A person with a true faith in God, he found ways to appreciate the simple things in life. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Friday July 16, 2010 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville where military honors will take place. Pastor Deann Anderson will officiate. Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Any memorial gestures may be mailed to 610 West Roselawn St., Danville, IL 61832.
