John Boyle Sr.

John Boyle Sr, 74, of Danville, passed away on September 19, 2016 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on February 1, 1942 in Wallace, Idaho the son of Irvin J. and Sarah (O'Rourke) Boyle. He married Dian Childers on September 7, 2004 in Danville. She survives. John will be deeply missed by his wife Dian, children; John (Gloria) Boyle Jr. of Williamsport, IN, Jeff (Dawne) Boyle of Danville, IL, Tanya Boyle-Smith of Marietta, GA, Michael (Jill) Gumm of Georgetown, IL, Sara (Kurt Randles) Boyle of Danville, IL, Nathan Phipps of Chicago, IL and Joshua (Angela) Phipps of Kingman, IN. Also surviving are his sister, Eileen Shaw of Westville, IL, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. John worked at the Danville VA for 20 years and was a Vietnam Veteran as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a former member and Past Commander of the Westville American Legion. John was also a former Union Steward. He loved; watching NASCAR, football, the Bears Cubs and Illini, fishing, playing on his computer and his 2 dogs "Bo" and "Sweetpea". A celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the VA Protestant Chapel, 1900 East Main Street Danville, IL 61832. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery with the Danville American Legion Post #210 providing Military Rites.
