John Boyd

John W. "Jay" Boyd, 82, of Westville, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his home. He was born on March 9, 1937 in Danville, Illinois the son of John and Inez (Larew) Boyd. He was united in marriage to Nancy Patten on September 20, 1958, they celebrated their 60th anniversary in September of 2018, she survives.

He will be dearly missed by his son, Daniel (Irma Williams) Boyd; grandchild, Daniel (Bree Fortner) Boyd, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jaydan Boyd, Mia Boyd and Daniel Plaster.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Boyd, brothers, Jim and Donnie Boyd.

He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Community Church of God. Jay volunteered his time at the Habitat for Humanity and passing bibles for Gideons. He worked most of his life at Hysters as the Executive of Parts department.

A celebration of Jays life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 North Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
