John Allen Mendenhall

Danville, Ill. - John Allen Mendenhall, 76, of Danville and formerly of Ridge Farm, Illinois passed away at 12:12 p.m. CDT Friday, June 7, 2019 at OSF HealthCare in Urbana, Illinois.

He was born February 11, 1943 in Portland, Oregon the son of the late A.W. and Phyllis (High) Mendenhall.

John married Lois Mae Antrim on May 13, 1962 in Ridge Farm, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters: Tammy Mendenhall of Georgetown, Illinois and Shawn (Robert) Davis of Williamsport, Indiana; two grandchildren: Dustin McClure of Bellingham, Washington and Ashton (Jared) Greer of Williamsport, Indiana; three great grandchildren: Roman, Jameson and Solomon; sister: Mary (Doug) Newman of Oregon and three brothers: David (Victoria) Mendenhall of Oregon; Alvin (Sherie) Mendenhall of San Antonio, Texas and Adam (Debbie) Mendenhall of Oregon.

John was a retired carpenter and member of the Carpenters Local #44 in Champaign, Illinois. He was also a member of the Ridge Farm and Vermilion Grove Friends Churches and later attended Connexion Church in Danville. John was a 1962 graduate of Ridge Farm High School. He enjoyed collecting antiques, stamps and bottles.

Funeral services: 2:30 pm. EDT Friday, June 14, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Al Mendenhall; Visitation: 12:30 p.m. EDT Friday, June 14, 2019 until time of services at the funeral home. Cremation following services with inurnment of cremains to be held at a later date.
