John A. Owens

John Owens, 70, of Danville, IL, lost his brief battle with cancer on November 25, 2017 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. John was born on February 22, 1947 to parents Meredith Owens and Mable Owens (Kinney). Survivors include his 3 children, Ruth (Scott) Herlache, Race Owens and Jason (Michelle) Owens and 5 grandchildren. Also surviving is his partner of over 10 years, Diana Lewis and previous spouse of over 25 years, Ramona Owens (Gurney). John was preceded in death by his parents. He was owner of Owens Sewer Service for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed, in his youth, a good game of football. He was also an avid fan of Kyle Bush and Nascar racing. In most recent years, he could be found playing a friendly game of billiards. A celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 North Vermilion Danville, IL 61834 at 1:00 PM with a visitation prior from 12-1PM. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Springhill Cemetery in Danville.
