Danville- John Alan Murdock, 56, of Danville passed away at 12:58 a.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born in Danville on April 20, 1954 to John H. and Louise Probasco Murdock. He married Laura Montgerard at Central Christian Church in Danville on July 18, 1992. She survives. Also surviving are his mother Louise Murdock; 3 sons Jeffrey Alan (Mindy) Murdock of Danville, John Robert (Tabitha) Murdock of Georgetown, and Scott (Christi) Setser of Vincennes, IN; daughter Ashlee (Rian) Watson of Danville; 2 sisters Marilyn (Bruce) Reiss of Amory, MS and Connie (David) Phillips of Danville; 9 grandchildren Robert, Alize, Laura, Jeffy, Ethan, Audrey, Cy, Johnny, and Tristan Rock; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and a nephew. John enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for 11 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Danville High School where he was also a member of the wrestling team. John was employed at Quaker Oats where he began work in 1988. He loved fishing, cars, camping, and trips to Las Vegas. Family was everything to John, and he loved being with his grandkids. John Murdocks life will be celebrated at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. On Thursday, August 12 a service will be officiated by Pastor Hank Anderson at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston where military honors will take place.
