GEORGETOWN- Johanna Ruth (Tharp) Nigra, 79 of Georgetown passed away at 8:26 pm on Thursday December 23, 2004 at the Carl Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on July 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Otso Lera and Mary (McClellan) Tharp. After her youth, Johanna met Paul Nigra and later was united in marriage on March 24, 1949 in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death in January 1999. Surviving family members that will deeply miss Johanna include her four sons, Paul Eugene (Jami) Nigra of Gladstone, Ore., Randall Scott (Michele) Nigra of Danville, IL, Steven Jay (Debbie) Nigra of Portland, Ore., and Terry Lee of Church Hill TN., as well as her daughter, Joni Marie (Wilbur) Moody of Farmer City, IL. Also surviving are Johanna's eleven grandchildren, Paul, Dustan, David, Christian, Cory, Gary, Jason, Waylan, Samuel, Joshua, and Jacob, as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Treyton, Nicole, Brianna, Cheyenne, Savannah, Christopher, and Gavin, which will all miss grandma. Her parents and her brother, Joseph, precede her in death. Johanna was a student at Washington grade school and then attended Danville High School, graduating in 1943. After graduating, she started working for Illinois Bell Telephone Co., then as a store auditor for the former store known as Meis Bros., later called Gold Blatzs, where she eventually retired. In her spare time and even after retirement, Johanna enjoyed reading up on Genealogy and working with flowers, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
