Johanna M. Ollis Belser

Indianapolis, Ind. - Johanna M. Ollis Belser, 76, formerly of Eugene, Indiana and a resident of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully early in the morning on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She was born November 17, 1934, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of the late John T. and Helen M. Arms Gouty. She married Karl F. Belser, Jr. on June 30, 1978 in Rileysburg, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2003. Johanna graduated from Bismarck High School in 1952. She attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, but left early to raise her family. Johanna enjoyed various art and craft projects, including ceramics and tole painting. Johanna was a long time member of the Rileysburg Church of Christ. Prior to that, she was a member of the Covington First Church of Christ, where she was an organist and member of the church choir. Johanna loved gardening and caring for a multitude of flowers and plants. She also enjoyed watching and listening to birds. Johanna loved her five dogs, Ronin, Jack, Charlotte, Beatrice and especially "Her Baby", Lacy. Johanna is survived by two sons, Michael E.(Connie)Ollis of Indianapolis, Indiana and Monty E.(Michelle)Ollis of Westville, Illinois; two daughters, Mary Ellen Peters of Fishers, Indiana and Melinda E. Roberts of Indianapolis, Indiana; one step daughter, Audrey C. Lloyd of Cayuga, Indiana; one step son, Michael D. Belser of Cayuga, Indiana; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and one great grandchild; one sister, Roberta(Donald)Porter of Oakwood, Illinois; one brother, Robert Gouty of Danville, Illinois; one brother in law, Jim Paris of Bismarck, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Johanna was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Ann Paris. Johanna was outgoing and friendly to all and loved by her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, August 13, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Donald Porter; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT Saturday, August 13, 2011 until time of services at the funeral home.
