Joe Taylor

Joe Taylor, 84, of Covington, passed away at 5:45pm, Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Williamsport, IN, on July 16, 1939, the son of Herman and Delta {Roderick} Taylor. He was united in marriage to Susie Allen on July 15, 1966. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his children, Matt (Polly) Taylor, Thad (Kara) Taylor, Andy (Kelly) Taylor, and Joellyn (Bart) Maxwell; his 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his siblings, Jack (Janet) Taylor, Alice Hutchinson, Carolyn (Bill) Hale, Clara (Ron) Crawford, Louis Hensley, and Linda (Ralph) Burmeister. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Vernon, Calvin, Dora, Barb, Dorothy, and Edith. Joe was a proud Veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. He was known to everyone as a hard worker his whole life. He farmed and enjoyed running his bulldozer. He was a huge fan of IU Basketball. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. A celebration of Joes life will be held at 3:30pm, Friday, August 25, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 with Matt Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 3:30pm on Friday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.
