Joe R. Daniels

Cayuga, Ind. - Joe R. Daniels, 89, of Cayuga passed away at 7:50 p.m. EDT Friday, November 2, 2018 at Gibson Family Center For Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born November 24, 1928 in Montezuma, Indiana the son of the late Hugh and Virgil (Jarvis) Daniels.

Joe married Carole M. Woodard on January 21, 1950 in Montezuma, Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1999.

Survivors include his children: Debbie (William) Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana; Danny Ray (Judy) Daniels of Avon, Indiana and Donald S. Daniels of Cayuga, Indiana; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister: Dixie McRoy of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother: Don (Ann) Daniels of South Haven, Mississippi, and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers: J.M. and Tommy Daniels.

Joe retired from General Motors (Allison Division) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He attended the Independent Baptist Church in Montezuma, Indiana and was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post 263. Joe enjoyed playing poker and spending time with his family.

Funeral services: 10 a.m. EST Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Keith McIntyre; Burial with Honors: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the funeral home. The family request contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
