Joe D. Stack

Danville - Joseph Donald Stack, 71 of Danville, passed away on Saturday May 16, 2015 in Danville. Joseph was born the son of Donald and Rita Stack in Miami, Florida on September 23, 1943. On September 18, 1965 Joe married his sweetheart Shirley Taylor, and the two enjoyed over 49 years of wedded bliss together. Joe is survived by his wife Shirley Stack of Danville; his children Douglas (Josie) Stack of Waterville, OH, Jodi (Scott) Liggett of Danville, and Darin (Kelli) Stack of Tilton; his grandchildren Samantha Stack, Spencer Stack, Kaitlyn Stack, Dawson Stack, Colin Liggett, and Kayla Liggett; his siblings Margaret Bedard, John Stack, Thomas Stack, Theresa Oldham, Dennis Stack, Stanley Stack, and Jerome Stack. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Rita Stack; his siblings Barbara Boyd, Mary Stack, Donna Stack, and Mark Stack. Joe was a proud member of the Danville Moose Lodge for over 30 years with his wife Shirley. Over the years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife and amateur photography in his free time. He was also a staple in the baseball scene having been a coach of many children from Little League to High School teams. Joe was a dedicated worker for over 35 years, he started at Illinois Bell in Danville and retired from Ameritech in Champaign in 1999. After retirement, Joe and Shirley would snowbird down to Texas every winter. Joe always had a story to tell. Above all, Joe was a family man and enjoyed his time with his grandchildren above anything else. A celebration of life will be held for Joseph D. Stack on Wednesday May 20, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 19, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Center, in Danville.
