Joe E. Burns, age 57, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his home. He was born November 4, 1950 in Du Quoin, IL the son of Lawrence Aaron and Dorothy Jean (Bechtlofft) Burns. He married Janet Schmitt on December 17, 1982 in Chicago, IL. She survives. Joe is also survived by his three sons: Tony Burns of Danville, Paul Burns of Fairview Heights, IL, Jason Burns of Mission Viejo, CA; one daughter: Heather (Todd) Will of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; one brother: Jim (Carol) Burns of Huntley, IL; three grandchildren: Ariel Faythe Burns of Danville, Conner and Riley Will of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joe worked as a police officer in the Chicago area for fourteen years until moving to Danville in 1986 where he began working for the Department of Children and Family Services. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a big supporter of our nations military. Joe enjoyed working with his friend Rick on the many different projects they did together. He loved being around children and was known for his heart of gold and his willingness to help others as well as being a practical joker. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and all his friends.
