Joanne Peters

Joanne Peters, 94, of Danville, IL passed away on November 26, 2023 at the Waters in Covington, IN.

Joanne was born on May 8, 1929 the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Orlick) Garcia. She married Gerald "Pete" Peters and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Joanne is survived by her children, Kathy (Jim) Gilliland of Ogden, IL, Karen (Bob Oberlander) Martin of Georgetown, IL, Donna Dinwiddie of Scottsville, KY and Mike (Rita) Lange of Danville, IL, her grandchildren, Tracy (Telly) Wells, Tony (Karen) Gilliland, Steven (Jolena) Martin, Mary (Lonnie) Freeman, Chrissy (Kenny) Clarkson, Sean (Nicole) Lange, Tiffiney (Kevin) Boop, Tiffany (Mike) Barnfield, Brian (Chasity) Lange, Joshua (Amanda) Birge and Bill (Beth) Dinwiddie, her sisters, Patricia Throndson and Barbi Shifley, as well as 25 great-grandchildren, 17 great great-grandchildren and special friends, Chris Orr, Bob Stewart and Robert.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald "Pete" Peters, one grandson, Jeremy Birge, sister, Arlene Sanders and son-in-law, Jimmie Dinwiddie.

Joanne worked at Bohn Aluminum for over 30 years and later worked at Royal Donut in Danville, IL. She enjoyed spending her free time knitting, taking care of her dogs, line dancing, playing B.I.N.G.O., listening to the Mike Ellis Band and country singer Trace Adkins, as well as spending time with her friends at Richs Restaurant.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. Pastor Greg Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the funeral home in Westville, IL.

Memorials may be made in Joannes memory to the Danville Humane Society.
