Danville Joanne Ilene (Murphy) Julian passed away in Paint Lick, Kentucky on Thursday, October 22, 2020 due to complications related to Alzheimers disease. She was born May 20, 1941 in Hudson, Michigan and is the daughter of Esli Murphy and Ilene (Wheaton) Murphy.
She spent her early years in the area of Devils Lake in Lenawee County, Michigan. She had fond memories of living on her grandpas farm with her Mother, Brother, Uncles and beloved Gramp Wheaton. They survived by working the farm, selling goods, gardening, and canning.
After her Mom married Max Carncross in 1948, Joanne lived on the family farm in eastern Hillsdale County, Michigan. She was involved with working on the farm and attended Pittsford Schools participating in band, Future Homemakers of America (FHA), basketball (earning MVP honors) and cheerleading. On September 2, 1960, Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Arden Julian in Osseo, Michigan. They had four children. After several job transfers, they raised their family primarily in Danville, Illinois.
Joanne was a full-time homemaker until her children were in school, and then she started working part time and attending Danville Area Community College. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and encouraged them in school, church, and other activities. She showed her love and support by attending their many sporting and music events. She loved watching college basketball in the winter, March Madness in the spring and her Chicago Cubs in the summertime.
Joanne earned an Associates degree in Medical Records Technology in 1984. She held various jobs including customer service, medical secretary, meal coordinator for CHRIS Senior Services, Election Judge, and Teaching Assistant for Danville District 118 schools. One of her biggest thrills was encountering a former student and seeing their excitement as they exclaimed, "Hi Mrs. Julian!"
In January 1964, Joanne and Arden were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1968, they were sealed for eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple. She served in many different teaching and leadership roles at church. She was especially gifted in teaching young children to sing gospel songs.
Her husband Arden, parents, one sister Mary (Carncross) McQuate, one brother Ron Murphy, and one granddaughter Lluvia Wilson preceded Joanne in death.
Surviving are: four children Allen (Susan) Julian, Aaron (Dina) Julian, Austin (Jenny) Julian, and Julie (Reaine) Wilson; eleven grandchildren Alexis, Alyssa, Victoria, Madeline, Audrey, Lucas, Anna, Camilla Julian; Reaine Garrett, Amelia, and Catia Wilson; one great-granddaughter Eisley; four siblings - Eldon Murphy, Robert Carncross, Richard Carncross, and Sharon (Carncross) Warren.
