Joann Ott Mckay

Champaign - JoAnn Ott McKay, 77, passed away on Saturday December 17, 2016 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana, IL. She was born on February 16, 1939 in Cincinnati, OH to Frederic and Leona (Phillips) Ott. JoAnn married John Patrick McKay on April 21, 1961 in Cincinnati. JoAnn is survived by her husband; sons John Philip (Christine) McKay and Thomas Jeffrey McKay; grandchildren Kayla Panayiota McKay and Melina Maria McKay; and sister Mary Lee (William) Mistretta. She is preceded in death by her parents and aunt Margaret Uihlein. JoAnn is a retired musician and composer. She was class valedictorian at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1960. JoAnn played as a pianist and organist at many local churches over 38 years. She loved the French school of romantic organ music and was fluent in French. She and her family enjoyed many trips to Paris and northern France. JoAnn loved traveling, reading, and completing crossword puzzles. A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held at 10:30am on Thursday December 22, 2016 at First United Methodist Church 210 W. Church St. Champaign, IL 61820. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Wednesday December 21, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Memorial donations may be made in JoAnn's name to the Salvation Army.
