Joann Grider

JoAnn Grider, 65, of Danville passed away on May 26, 2024 at her home doing one of the things she loved the most- watching the Indy 500.

JoAnn was born on October 27, 1958 in Danville to the late Larry Rollins, Sr. and Betty Lane. She married Steve Tucker in 1974 and later Dwayne Grider in 1984. Though the marriages may not have lasted, she gained the most precious thing to her, her children. There was nothing JoAnn loved more in the world than being a mother and grandmother. She absolutely loved her family. She loved her #1 baby, her baby, & her princess! Which, of course, made her the queen.

JoAnn was a stay at home mom for many years before she started working at Heatcraft, SMF, and Krupp Gerlach. She loved being outdoors, cooking, planting flowers, watching sports, swimming, and being with her girlfriends. She was a great cook, especially her desserts. JoAnn's laughter was truly contagious. She undoubtedly brought life anywhere she went. If she wasn't at home, you could find her at any grandchild event or family gathering. Her beautiful smile and warm presence is unforgettable and will leave a lasting impact on the hearts of those closest to her. She enjoyed collecting frogs, pioneer woman, aztec designs, and anything teal. Momma Jo loved fast cars, decorating for Christmas, Fall time when the leaves changed colors and country music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Goodwin; brother, Larry Rollins, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Bill Erickson.

JoAnn leaves behind her legacy of love with her children Steven Tucker, James Grider, and Kemma Grider; her grandchildren Owen Marriage-Tucker, Zo Washkowiak, Levi Tucker, Josie Tucker, Triston Grider, Aubrey Sanders, Austin Grider, and Vivian Grider; her brother Tim (Ramona) Rollins and sister Rosella Erickson; brother-in-law John Goodwin and sister-in-law Sandy Rollins. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including her babycakes, Larry Eugene; and her good friends Shirley Bob and Cindy.
