JoAnn D. Shapuras, 82, of Westville, passed away at 1:12am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born on June 26, 1928, in Westville, IL, the daughter of John and Mae {Bubelis} Thompson, both deceased. She was wed to Thomas I. White, from that union came three children: Thomas E White of Catlin, DiAnn D. Cottle of Danville, & Michael A. White of Westville. She later married John Shapuras; he preceded her in death. JoAnn is also survived by: her grandchildren, Justin Cottle, Wade (Monica) White, Torrie (Clark) Teague, Erin (Sam) Hagaman, & Dustin White; her great grandchildren, Tyler, Colby, Wade Jr, Destiny, & Desireigh; her brothers, Carl Thompson of Oakwood, John (JoAnn) Thompson of Danville, Faustyn (Shirley) Thompson of Ridge Farm, & Iyrann (Hazel) Thompson of North Carolina; her sister, AdryAnn Swaney of Westville; and many special friends. Her granddaughter, Megan Webster, and son-in-law, Donald Webster, preceded her in death. JoAnn was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the St. Marys Altar & Rosary Society, Westville Womens Club, Village Board Trustee, Lithuanian National Cemetery Board, and Women of the Moose Lodge Danville. She was past President of the Westville American Legion Auxiliary Post #51, where she was a member for 47 years. She had worked at General Electric for many years. She will be missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. Marys Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Father Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be 2pm-6pm, Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home, Westville, with a Rosary to be held at 1:30pm, as well as, a Womens American Legion Post #51 Auxiliary ceremony at 5:30pm. She will be laid to rest in Lithuanian National Cemetery, Westville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Westville American Legion Auxiliary or to Lithuanian National Cemetery.
